Acceptable Use Policy

Effective date: 13 August 2026

This policy forms part of our Terms of Service. Breaching it is a breach of those Terms and may result in immediate suspension or termination without notice or refund.

1. You must not

1.1 Use the Services unlawfully

• Break any law, regulation, court order or professional rule
• Infringe anyone's intellectual property, privacy or other rights
• Upload material you do not have the right to upload, or whose disclosure to us would breach a court order, protective order, confidentiality undertaking, or duty binding on you

1.2 Attack or overload the Services

• Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any system, account, or data
• Probe, scan or test the vulnerability of any system except as expressly permitted under our published security disclosure policy
• Circumvent or attempt to circumvent any rate limit, quota, access control, authentication, or usage restriction
• Send automated traffic at a volume liable to degrade the Services for others, or run any denial-of-service or resource-exhaustion attack
• Upload malware, or any file designed to exploit, damage or overload a system, including compressed files designed to expand disproportionately

1.3 Misuse our third-party sources

• Use the Services to bulk-extract, mirror, scrape or rebuild any case-law database
• Use the Services in a way that breaches the terms of any source we rely on, or that risks our access to it
• Use the Services as a means of routing volume to a third-party source you could not access directly

1.4 Misrepresent results

• Present any result as a certification, verification, guarantee, or clearance
• Represent a NOT FOUND result as a finding that a citation is fabricated, false, or that any person has acted improperly
• Use any result to accuse, discipline, sanction, report or defame any person without independently verifying it against the official record
• Misattribute results to us, or state or imply that we have approved, endorsed, certified or checked something we have not

1.5 Resell or rebuild the Services

• Resell, sublicense, rent or otherwise make the Services available to third parties as a service of your own
• Use the Services to build a competing product
• Copy, modify, reverse engineer, decompile or create derivative works, except where that restriction is prohibited by law
• Scrape, crawl or systematically extract the Services or their output

1.6 Abuse accounts and access

• Share credentials, or allow anyone else to use your account
• Create accounts by automated means, or create multiple accounts to evade limits, bans or free-tier restrictions
• Impersonate any person or organisation, or misstate your affiliation

1.7 Misuse feedback and free-text fields

• Submit confidential, privileged or client-identifying information in any free-text field, including feedback notes. Those fields are for describing a problem with a citation result, nothing more.
• Submit abusive, threatening, harassing or unlawful content

2. Automated access

Automated or programmatic access is permitted only where we have expressly agreed to it in writing, or through an interface we publish for that purpose, and always subject to the limits we set.

3. Security research

We welcome good-faith security research. Report anything you find to namankedia@geppetto.work before disclosing it publicly, and do not access, alter or retain data belonging to anyone else while testing. Research conducted in good faith and consistent with our published disclosure policy is not a breach of this policy.

We do not currently offer monetary rewards for vulnerability reports. We say so plainly rather than implying otherwise.

4. Enforcement

We may investigate suspected breaches and take any action we consider appropriate, including warning you, applying rate limits, suspending or terminating access, removing content, and reporting to law enforcement or a professional regulator.

We are not obliged to monitor use of the Services, and no failure to act is a waiver of our right to act later.
